We breed AKC Dachshunds; both standard and miniature. Our standards weigh no more than 16 lbs. and average about 12 lbs. The overall average size of our doxies is 11 lbs. The classification for miniature is 11 lbs. or under at 12 months of age. Most of our dachshunds are actually only a pound or two over the 11 lb maximum for miniature classification, but since they are not large enough to be considered a full sized standard.....are regarded as "tweenies" by most breeders. Size classification is not recognized by the AKC and was only adapted for the show ring. We breed various colors and patterns, but we do not breed double dapples. We do breed chocolate and piebald, as well as the classic red and black and tan.
